Several of Europe’s biggest clubs had remarkable campaigns, but which teams stood out the most?

Sports Brief has ranked the top five teams with the highest points totals in Europe’s top five leagues in the 2023-24 season.

5. Arsenal – 89 points

Arsenal finished as Premier League runners-up despite a record-breaking campaign.

Mikel Arteta’s squad secured 28 victories, a new club record in the Premier League, surpassing even the Invincible team of 2003-04.

Under Arteta’s guidance, the Gunners have made significant progress, competing for the title after six consecutive seasons outside the top four. Their next goal is to dethrone Manchester City and end their dominance in English football.

4. Bayer Leverkusen – 90 points

Bayer Leverkusen shed their "Neverkusen" label by winning the Bundesliga for the first time in their 120-year history.

Under Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen not only ended Bayern Munich’s reign but also became the first team in German football history to complete a Bundesliga campaign unbeaten.

They are only the third team in Europe’s top five leagues to do so this century, following Arsenal (2003-04) and Juventus (2011-12). Granit Xhaka’s stunning goal in the DFB-Pokal final secured a domestic double for Leverkusen, whose 90 points were 40 more than their tally in the previous season.

3. Manchester City – 91 points

Manchester City continued their Premier League dominance with another record-breaking season.

Pep Guardiola’s squad became the first in English football history to win four consecutive top-flight titles, edging out Arsenal in the title race.

This season marks the fourth time City have achieved 90+ points in a Premier League campaign under Guardiola, cementing their golden era.

2. Inter Milan – 94 points

Inter Milan clinched the Serie A title with an outstanding season. Simone Inzaghi’s side boasted the best defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues, conceding only 22 goals and losing just twice all season.

They finished 19 points ahead of their nearest challengers, city rivals AC Milan. Lautaro Martinez led the charge with 24 goals, earning the Capocannoniere as the league’s top scorer, while Yann Sommer set a new club record with 19 clean sheets in a single Serie A season.

1. Real Madrid – 95 points

Real Madrid amassed more points than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues this season, winning La Liga for a record-extending 36th time.

Carlo Ancelotti’s trophy collection continues to grow, and he will have another chance to add to it when Los Blancos face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final. Summer signing Jude Bellingham was instrumental in their title victory, earning the La Liga Player of the Season award in his debut year in Spain.

These teams delivered exceptional performances throughout the season, setting new records and achieving significant milestones.
