Los Blancos and the Black and Yellows will engage in 90 minutes of intense football, each vying to hoist the coveted trophy into the London sky.

For Real Madrid, this final brings a sense of déjà vu, marking the third time in their Champions League history that they face a German rival in the ultimate match.

Sports Brief analyses how the Spanish champions have fared against German opponents in the Champions League finals.

Real Madrid's performance against German rivals in UCL finals

Real Madrid vs Eintracht Frankfurt (1959/60)

Nearly 64 years ago, Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt qualified for a historic European Cup final in the 1959/60 season.

The Spanish team entered this final as the reigning four-time champions of the tournament, having won the first four finals.

The match, which ended with an astounding 10 goals, saw Real Madrid triumph 7-3. Legends Alfredo Di Stéfano and Ferenc Puskás were the heroes of the day, each scoring a hat-trick and leading their team to victory, per Diario AS.

Real Madrid vs Bayer Leverkusen (2001/02)

The last time Real Madrid faced a German team in a UEFA Champions League final was during the 2001/2002 season, per UEFA.

At that time, Real Madrid was under the guidance of Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque, while Klaus Toppmöller managed the German side.

The match featured stars like Lúcio, Roberto Carlos, Dimitar Berbatov, Iker Casillas, Raúl, Santiago Solari, Luís Figo, Michael Ballack, Claude Makélélé and Guti.

However, it was defined by a historic goal from the legendary French footballer Zinedine Zidane, who delivered a magical volley in Glasgow.

Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund

In the long history of the UEFA Champions League, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have clashed 14 times.

The balance of these encounters tilts in favour of the Spanish giants. Real Madrid have emerged victorious in six of these matches, while Dortmund have managed to win three.

The remaining five encounters ended in draws.

Kroos warns Madrid ahead of Dortmund final

In an earlier publication, Sports Brief reported that Toni Kroos issued a warning to Real Madrid as they prepare for the Champions League final against Dortmund.

Despite his team's rich history in the competition, Kroos, who announced his retirement on Tuesday, May 21, feels the German side must not be underestimated.

With the final approaching, the veteran, who has five UCL titles to his name, stressed the importance of his Real Madrid team respecting their opponents.
