In a chaotic match that spilt over towards the end, Al Nassr had to fight from a goal down to equalise with two minutes to go.

Aleksandar Mitrovic continued his impressive season for his team, putting Al-Hilal ahead in the seventh minute. It almost looked like the Saudi league champions would secure the win in normal time, but Aiman Yahya equalized in the 88th minute to send the game to extra time.

The fiery contest also saw the referee brandish three red cards, with David Ospina getting sent off in the 57th minute before Al-Hilal lost Ali Al-Bulayhi and Kalidou Koulibaly late on, according to ESPN.

Ronaldo’s bicycle kick

Despite his best efforts, Ronaldo could not inspire his team with a win, but he came close in spectacular fashion.

In the 46th minute, with Al-Nassr trailing, the former Real Madrid superstar got to the end of a delightful cross to adjust his body and hit a menacing bicycle kick that beat the goalkeeper but unfortunately struck the post.

The Portugal star, however, scored in the penalty shootout, stepping up to slot home his side’s second spot kick.

Al Hilal goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, emerged as the hero of the day, saving Al-Nassr’s last two penalty kicks and sending Ronaldo into a ball of emotions at full-time.

Ronaldo’s girlfriend consoles him

Sports Brief also reported on how Ronaldo’s girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, attempted to console him after the defeat in the Saudi King’s Cup final.

Georgina, who has made it a habit to support her heartthrob from the stands, was present at the Abdullah Sports City Stadium for the final of the King's Cup.

After the game, she took to Instagram to share a thoughtful message to her sweetheart and Al-Nassr.
