Nigeria and South Africa will meet in a World Cup qualifier next week, and Ndidi knows how much of a threat the team poses.

As noted by Soccer Laduma, the Leicester City midfielder praised Hugo Broos’ men for their performance at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

“They are a very good team going by their performance at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
“They gave us a tough fight, and the winner had to be separated by penalty shootouts. But for me, the AFCON is past, and we just need not look towards that direction again because their team might be different entirely this time around. So, it all depends on us as a team and the way we want to approach the game,” he said.

Nigeria defeats South Africa at AFCON

The two African giants last met in February in an AFCON semi-final, with the Super Eagles winning.

Ndidi was injured ahead of the tournament, but he watched as his side beat Broos’ team on penalties to book their place in the final.

They would then lose to the hosts, Ivory Coast.

South Africa leads Nigeria on qualifying table

Each team has only played two games thus far in the qualifier, but the South Africans have had a slightly better start.

Bafana beat Benin but lost to Rwanda, while Nigeria drew with Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

Ndidi shows support for Finidi

Sports Brief also reported how Ndidi was showing support for new Nigerian coach Finidi George.

George was recently appointed as the new coach, but not everyone was happy with the choice.

Ndidi has expressed confidence that the new manager is capable of leading the team going forward.
