Skovdahl inspired the Dons to the final of the Scottish Cup and League Cup during his maiden season at the club after joining them in 1999.
Milne said Aberdeen hoped Skovdahl could replicate that success because of the similarities between the clubs.he said:
"Unfortunately, that same success eluded him at AFC, but he will be forever remembered for getting us to two cup finals in the same year in 2000.

"Ebbe was great to work with and, during his time in Aberdeen, I was fortunate enough to become good friends with him and his wife. I was therefore deeply saddened to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with his family."
Brondby three years ago named the Ebbe Skovdahl Fan Lounge at their stadium in honour of their former team.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Premier League champions Manchester City have confirmed the death of their legend Glyn Pardoe who lost his life at the age of 73 after a long battle with serious illness.
Pardoe would always be remembered by those at the Etihad stadium for been the youngest player ever to play for the Citizens at the age of 15. In 1968, Glyn Pardoe's impressive performances helped Manchester City to win the League title and also scored the winner in the League Cup final two years later.
The Englishman spent his entire football career at Manchester City between the year 1962 to 1976 where he played over 300 games for the Citizens.
