Many African football legends have graced the Premier League since its inception three decades ago.

Over the years, it has become a top destination for established and upcoming African footballers.

Nottingham Forest defender, Ola Aina, was recently asked to blind rank five African legends, and his answers were fascinating.

Aina has played two seasons in the Premier League with Fulham and Forest and three matches for Chelsea in the 2016/17 season.

His compatriot Jay-Jay Okocha was the first player, and he placed him third. Mohamed Salah was next, and he put him fifth. The Super Eagles star placed Yaya Toure second, Nwankwo Kanu fourth, and Didier Drogba first.

All these players have legendary status in the English top flight. Salah is the leading African scorer in the Premier League, while Drogba, who is retired, is second.

Toure helped Manchester City win their first Premier League title in 2012, while Kanu had a historic spell with Arsenal.

Okocha played with Bolton Wanderers but did not get his hands on the title like the four other players on the list. However, his flamboyant style enchanted the hearts and minds of football fans in England.

Liverpool legend, Salah, is considered the best African footballer to play in the Premier League after surpassing Drogba's goal tally a few years ago. His record of 157 goals will stand for a while.

Greatest Africans in Premier League history

Sports Brief earlier ranked the top 5 greatest Africans to play in the Premier League.

Salah took top spot ahead of Chelsea legend, Drogba. Sadio Mane and Riyad Mahrez also made the list. No African has won more Premier League titles than the Algerian.

Greatest goals by Africans in Premier League

Sports Brief also ranked the top 5 greatest goals scored by Africans in Premier League history.

Papiss Cisse's screamer against Chelsea in 2012 was top, beating Tony Yeboah's volley against Liverpool in 1995. Soufiane Boufal, Drogba, and the late Cheick Tiote also made the top five.
