South African tactician, Pitso Mosimane, has suffered heartbreak in the Saudi Professional League as Abha Club were relegated to the lower division.

The Leaders of the South lost 2-1 to the already relegated Al Hazem side at the Al Hazam Club Stadium on Monday, May 27.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach was appointed Abha's manager in January with the aim of keeping the club in the Saudi top-flight league. However, he missed out on his sole mandate by losing on the final day of the season.

Sports Brief examines what Abha Club's relegation from the top-flight means for Kaizer Chiefs.

What Abha's relegation means for Kaizer Chiefs

Mosimane failed to meet his objective of keeping Abha in the Saudi top-flight league, which means his future with the club is in doubt.

The South African coach signed a short-term deal with Zaeem Al-Janoub and could be shown the exit doors after failing to meet the target set in his contract.

Pitso's possible departure from Abha club this summer would be good news for Kaizer Chiefs, who are eyeing the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach as their new manager.

Jingles tops Amakhosi's list of managers being considered for the vacant coaching role at the club, with Alexandre Santos and Sead Ramovic also on the list.

The Soweto Giants would be the happiest entity in the unfortunate situation in which Abha Club found themselves.

The only issue left for Chiefs is whether they will be able to meet Mosimane's salary demand alongside his backroom staff.

What Mosimane said about coaching Chiefs

Sports Brief previously reported on Mosimane discussing signing for Kaizer Chiefs and stating his decision would not be affected by any emotions.

The former Al Ahly manager is one of the front-runners for the Amakhosi job but believes the club has to prove they are serious about their offer.
