The animosity between TS Galaxy’s Sead Ramovic and Mamelodi Sundown’s Rulani Mokwena has reached a new high.

There has been bad blood between the two coaches since November 2023, but it has now escalated as the Rockets have taken legal action against Mokwena.

Why have Galaxy taken Mokwena to court?

As reported by SABC Sport, the Mpumalanga-based club took Mokwena to court over his defamatory comments.

The club had threatened to do so unless Mokwena apologised and withdrew his comments, but with the Brazilian’s boss not budging, Galaxy kept their word.

To add to the drama, Galaxy took the matter to court before their DStv Premiership clash against the reigning champions. The two sides met at the Mbombela Stadium for their penultimate games of the current season.

What did Mokwena say?

The Sundowns boss angered his counterpart when he alleged that the Serbian boss instructed his players to hurt Bongani Zungu.

Zungu was the victim of a bad tackle, and Mokwena alleged that it was a form of revenge.

"I’m disappointed with the tackle on Bongani Zungu, very disappointed. I was told last night that the coach of the opposition showed that tackle that Bongani Zungu did on Bernard Parker. He said, 'Don’t forget what Bongani Zungu did'," Mokwena said after the game.

The comments angered Ramovic, who, according to FAR Post, asked Mokwena to prove his allegations within 24 hours. With Mokwena refusing to do so, the Rockets have now escalated the matter to the Johannesburg High Court.

Ramovic claims Mokwena threatened him

Sports Brief reported how the feud between Ramovic and Mokwena had escalated after their bad blood began brewing back in 2023 after the Rockets recorded a surprise win.

The Galaxy boss was unhappy after the Sundowns boss claimed his team had only lost because his squad had been depleted after many players were called up for Bafana Bafana.
