Cristiano Ronaldo has taken a swipe on critics following Juventus’s shocking and early exit from this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The Italian press as well as other critics are upset with the Portuguese saying he betrayed his teammates following his performance that saw Juventus get knocked out of the Champions League by FC Porto.
Ronaldo was blamed from left, right and centre for jumping in a ‘wall’ which allowed Sergio Oliviera grabbed his second goal for Porto from a 30-yard freekick.
Porto proceeded to the quarter-final of the competition following the away goals’ rule after it had ended 4-4 on aggregates.
The striker who is famous for updating his fans across social media went blank for days as he is also yet to come to terms as regards the loss.
However in his latest post, Ronaldo who has made history for himself at club and country stated that history cannot be deleted.
He won titles at Manchester United, Real Madrid and now Juventus, scoring breathtaking goals for the club. The six-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote:
“More important than the number of falls you take in life, is how fast and how strong you get back on your feet.
“True champions never break! Our focus is already in Cagliari, in the Serie A struggle, in the Italian Cup final and in everything that we can still achieve this season.
“It’s true that the past belongs in museums (I should say!), but fortunately, football has memory and so do I!
"History can’t be deleted, it’s written every single day with resilience, team spirit, persistence and lots of hard work. And those who don’t understand this will never achieve glory and success.”

FootballMeanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that multiple Ballon d’Or winners Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have failed to make the top 3 candidates shortlisted for the prestigious award for 2021.
French outlet L'Equipe via Tribuna are reporting that Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland are the three frontrunners for the prestigious prize year.
Messi and Ronaldo have dominated the awards for more than a decade with the duo splitting between themselves 11 awards as the Argentine won it six times while his Portuguese counterpart has scooped it five times.
This year’s award will be the first edition since 2006 that neither Messi nor Ronaldo are among the top 3 candidates.
