NPFL chairman Dikko reveals what Super Eagles captain Musa will be earning at Kano Pillars

Ahmed Musa will not be getting paid at Kano Pillars, according to the Nigerian Professional League chairman Shehu Dikko, ESPN.

The Super Eagles captain signed a short term contract with the Kano state based club to keep him fit at topflight level and potentially sign for a top club in Europe in the summer.

NPFL chairman Dikko revealed that Musa was not concerned about what he will be earning with his former team but giving back to them ten years after he was away.

Dikko said:

"We didn't speak much about it. Musa is someone who is more concerned about giving back to the club that made him and he is not coming here to do this for money. He is not getting paid for playing for Pillars. That is the kind of person he is."

Dikko also explained that Musa's short term deal was about Nigerian top professionals being assigned by the League Management Committee (LMC) to a club of their choice or a team can identify and sign such players.

He added:

"We spoke to him about coming back home to play, and as someone who is always ready to give back, he did not hesitate.

"Once the agreement was signed, the choice of which club to play for was up to him. A number of clubs wanted him. We put everything in front of him and he made the decision to go to Kano Pillars."

Musa was unveiled with the club's No.7 shirt and could play his first game away at Warri Wolves on April 28, 2002.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Ahmed Musa was officially unveiled as a Kano Pillars player and the Super Eagles captain has promised to land the Nigerian league title with his former club, PUNCH.

The Nigerian international was given the No.7 shirt, during the casual unveiling ceremony held in Kano state, same number he wore before leaving to Europe for greener pastures.

The 28-year-old signed a short term contract in a bid to keep his fitness level and help him find a team in Europe during the summer transfer window.
