Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam, shared a message of solidarity with Nigeria legend, Tijani Babangida, following the passing of his son and brother in an accident.

The former Ajax player was travelling with his family in Nigeria when their car crashed into a truck leading to various degrees of injuries and the loss of lives.

His brother, Ibrahim Babangida, also a former footballer, reportedly lost his life on the spot while his wife was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in the northern part of the country.

Babangida has since been released from hospital as he recovers from the accident.

Ajax, the club he spent seven years of his career with, took to social media to share a heartwarming moment with the ex-footballer before their game against Vitesse, another team he played for while in the Netherlands.

In a video shared on social media, players of both teams held a banner with a special message to the Babangida family.

"We are with you Babangida family," wrote the club on X, formerly Twitter.

Babangida made 77 appearances for the Amsterdam-based club, winning one Dutch Eredivisie title and two KNVB Cups, per Transfermarkt.
