At least four players who played for Manchester City during the start of the season are set to miss out on the Premier League winners medal.

The Citizens were crowned the English champions for the fourth consecutive season on Sunday, May 19 - the final day of the campaign.

The title race went down to the wire after an intense battle initially pitting three teams - Liverpool, City, and Arsenal - against each other.

However, the Reds stumbled at one point, leaving City and the Gunners in the driving seat.

According to SPORTbible, four players who turned out for City in the early stages of the campaign are set to miss out on the winners' medal.

It is understood that the Premier League handed out 40 medals to be assigned to the players and the coaching staff. Per the league rules, only players who featured in five or more games are guaranteed to get a medal.

In the case of Man City, 21 players featured in the Premier League this season, meaning the club would have 19 medals left to be shared among the coaches and the playing squad.

But as things stand, four players who played a part in the club's title charge won't get the medal.

The players include Cole Palmer, who featured for City in their league opener against Burnley before he sealed a summer move to Chelsea.

Aymeric Laporte also made an appearance for the EPL giants before he moved to the Saudi Pro League.

The other two players are Kalvin Phillips and James McAtee. The former played four games before he moved to West Ham on loan, while the latter featured once before his loan move to Sheffield United.
