Manchester City etched their name in Premier League history books after beating West Ham United on the final day to clinch the 2023-24 title on Sunday.

The Citizens became the first side to win the English top flight on four consecutive occasions after finishing the season at the top of the table ahead of Arsenal.

After beating Tottenham Hotspur in midweek to reclaim the top spot from the Gunners, Pep Guardiola's charges were just 90 minutes away from a slice of history.

And they did exactly that, racing to a two-nil lead courtesy of Phil Foden, who was earlier crowned the Premier League's Player of the Season for his excellent campaign, per Eurosport.

The Englishman smashed home from close range within the opening two minutes to break the deadlock and send the Etihad crowd singing.

He then added a second after Jeremy Doku teed him up in the 18th minute.

But Mohammed Kudus halved the deficit with a stunning acrobatic goal to briefly put the cat among the pigeons before halftime, BeSoccer reports.

Nevertheless, Rodri swiftly extinguished any potential for further suspense by delivering a trademark strike from the edge of the box, securing not only all three points but also the coveted trophy.

The drama continued as Czech midfielder Tomas Soucek unleashed a sublime header late in the game, only for the Video Assistant Referee to intervene and disallow the goal due to a handball infraction.

Guardiola clears the air about his future

Meanwhile, Sports Brief also reported that Pep Guardiola has clarified his stance on his future following Man City's remarkable feat of clinching a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title.

In the aftermath of this extraordinary achievement, the 53-year-old coach has once more touched upon the speculation swirling around his tenure at the club.

Providing some assurance, Pep expressed his desire to remain at the Etihad for the upcoming season, while acknowledging that what lies beyond that remains uncertain.
