Pep Guardiola produced what could be considered the most remarkable reaction of the season during the clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on May 14.

With the defending champions 1-0 ahead, Son Heung-min pounced on Manuel Akanji's mistake with 86 minutes on the clock to go one-on-one with Stefan Ortega in City's goal.

However, it was the City's second goalkeeper, subbing in for Ederson in the 69th minute, who emerged triumphant in the one-on-one duel, deflecting the shot from the South Korean star with a crucial parry.

Guardiola's reaction to Son's miss was palpable, clearly demonstrating his disbelief.

It is worth noting Son's strength as one of the Premier League's top finishers, consistently surpassing his expected goals tally - he has netted 17 goals this season, per the BBC.

However, he faltered in converting what could be one of the simplest opportunities of the season, much to the satisfaction of some fans, who seemingly prefer their team to suffer defeat in defiance of their rivals, Arsenal.

How Spurs versus Man City unfolded

On a nerve-wracking evening in North London, the Gunners were looking to their local rivals for support, and Tottenham briefly unsettled City.

However, it turned out to be a storm in a teacup as two goals in the second half from Erling Haaland propelled the Sky Blues towards an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title, per Sky Sports.

Substitute goalkeeper, Ortega, also made a significant contribution to City's win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, marking a rare win for the Citizens at the venue.

What's next for Manchester City?

The victory propelled City two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table as the season nears its conclusion.

Pep Guardiola's team will welcome West Ham United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, May 19, while Arsenal will host Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

Man City ready to write EPL history

Sports Brief also reported that Rodri expressed City's readiness to make history again by aiming to become the first team to claim four consecutive English top-flight titles.

However, the Spanish midfielder cautioned against a recurrence of the dramatic final-day scenario from two years ago, where Liverpool were denied by a late City comeback.
