Bayer Leverkusen etched its name in the history books on May 9, setting a new record of 49 matches unbeaten in all competitions after a thrilling 4-2 aggregate win over Roma in the Europa League semifinal.

This remarkable feat surpassed Benfica's 48-game unbeaten streak, previously established in 1965.

Die Werkself's journey to the Europa League final was far from smooth, with Roma taking the lead twice through Leandro Paredes' penalties.

This season, Leverkusen have developed a habit of scoring crucial goals in injury time, with 17 instances of salvaging draws or securing wins in the game's dying minutes.
