Former Nigeria player, Tijani Babangida, has been rushed to the hospital after an accident which claimed the life of his brother, Ibrahim Babangida.
The 50-year-old reportedly crashed his car into a moving trailer along the Kaduna-Zaria Road in the northern part of Nigeria this week.
His younger brother, Ibrahim, unfortunately passed at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
The 1996 Olympic Gold medalist and his wife have reportedly been admitted to the Shika Hospital in Zaria.

"Comrades! Let us be in prayers for our president, Tijani Babangida, who just had a ghastly motor accident along the Kaduna-Zaria Road," wrote Emmanuel Babayaro, the General Secretary of the Professional Footballers of Nigeria, as reported by Leadership Nigeria.
Babayaro's statement confirmed the tragic passing of Ibrahim and some of the reported details of the collision.
"May the soul of Ibrahim Babangida Rest in Peace with God, amen," he added.
Ibrahim was known for being part of the Nigeria team that won the FIFA U17 World Cup in 1993. The Olympic gold medalist is also fondly remembered for his days at Ajax Amsterdam, where he won one league title and two KNVB Cups, per Transfrermarkt.
Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) chairman, Shehu Abdullahi, also commented on the tragedy:
“It is true, [Ibrahim] was travelling to Zaria when [Tijjani], who was driving, ran into a trailer, according to an eyewitness, losing his brother with himself and others in board sustaining varying degrees of injuries," he said.

Rainford Kalaba hospitalized after accident
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that TP Mazembe Technical assistant, Rainford Kalaba was hospitalised and in critical condition after a serious car accident on April 13.
The former midfielder's Mercedes reportedly collided head-on with a truck. His partner was reportedly at the wheel at the time of the crash on Kafue Road in Zambia.
