Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich: how the game unfolded

Alphonso Davies gave Bayern the lead after the hour mark, but as it has become the norm, Madrid staged a late comeback, scoring two goals in the final moments of the game.

According to the BBC, Spanish striker Joselu Luis Mato, coming off the bench, netted an equaliser in the 88th minute before clinching the match-winner in the 91st minute, sealing a remarkable comeback for Los Blancos.

While Madrid celebrated their record 18th UCL final berth, Bayern lamented a missed opportunity, particularly after Matthijs de Ligt's late goal was disallowed for offside.

De Ligt's late goal controversially ruled offside

With Madrid leading 2-1 after their late goals, a long pass from Joshua Kimmich found Thomas Muller, who set up de Ligt's apparent goal in the 12th minute of stoppage time.

However, the linesman raised the flag before the ball crossed the line, leading to the goal's annulment before a VAR review could occur.

The referee's decision incensed the Bayern bench, with head coach Thomas Tuchel notably animated in his reaction to the call.

Tuchel slams referee, calls offside decision 'disaster'

After the game, Tuchel, in what was his final Champions League match in charge of Bayern, didn't hold back his displeasure, labelling the situation as an 'absolute disaster'.

"That was an absolute disaster. A violation of the rules. This scene must be played out to the end. That's the rule.
"The linesman made the mistake, and the referee made the second mistake,” the outgoing Bayern coach said, as quoted by Football Tweet.

Ancelotti replies Tuchel's offside claims

In a previous publication, Sports Brief reported that Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has addressed Thomas Tuchel's comments regarding a disputed offside call.

While Tuchel expressed dissatisfaction with the officials' decision, Ancelotti has strongly countered the claims of offside.

The experienced Italian coach not only dismissed Bayern's assertions but also pointed out instances where he believed the decisions should have favoured his team.
