Manchester United are desperate in bolstering their squad and after failing to sign Jack Grealish for £65million in the summer, the Red Devils will now be forced to fork out £100million.
Grealish captained Villa to a 2-1 loss away at the Old Trafford, but he could have been playing against his side should United have taken advantage of signing him during the summer.
Man United went level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table following their 2-1 over Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
Adama Traore canceled out Anthony Martial's goal as Bruno Fernandes scored the match-winner from the penalty spot.
But according to a report, Manchester United still want the 25-year-old who has scored six times and provided eight assists in 15 games this season.
Speaking about Grealish ahead of the showdown vs Villa, United boss Solskjaer said as cited in SunSport:
“I don't want to say too much about other teams' players but of course he's a player we know we have to look for.
“He's a player for Aston Villa and England who has only improved.
“The goal he scored last season was a brilliant goal and we've faced him enough times to know it's going to be a difficult game.”
Also, Gary Neville has urged Man United to sign a centre-back if they want to contend for the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils moved to second of the table following their 1-0 win over Wolves at Old Trafford and would have the opportunity to go level on points with Liverpool if they beat Aston Villa on New Year's Day.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Lionel Messi will in the next few weeks begin negotiations with other clubs as he enters into his final six months of his contract with Barcelona.
The 33-year-old agreed to see out the remainder of his deal at the Camp Nou after making a U-turn about his departure last summer.
And Premier League side Man City and Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain are two of the likeliest clubs to snap the Argentine.
