Jadon Sancho has made history as the first Manchester United player to make it to the Champions League final in 13 years.

The English winger was part of the Borussia Dortmund squad that beat Paris Saint-Germain on a 2-0 aggregate to qualify for the final of the tournament.

The Bundesliga giants silenced PSG 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final fixture played in Germany last week before getting the job done at Parc des Princes on Tuesday, May 7.

Mats Hummels was on target during the clash, with the defender's solitary goal in the tie confirming Dortmund's spot in the final of the continental showpiece.

According to TNT Sports, Dortmund's qualification for the final saw Sancho make history as the first United footballer to play in the UCL final round since 2011.

When did Man United last play in UCL final?

The Red Devils have not made it that far in the competition in 13 years, with their last appearance coming in 2011 under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The best the Manchester club have managed since then is a quarter-final qualification under former boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

This season, the Old Trafford dwellers could not make it past the group stages as they finished bottom in a pool that included Bayern Munich, Galatasaray, and FC Copenhagen.

Incredibly, they are also set to wait a little longer before they can play in the tournament, having missed out on European qualification for next season.

Sancho's dream stint with Dortmund comes at a time when there are doubts about him returning to the Theatre of Dreams upon the expiry of his loan deal with the club.

Per talkSport, the winger has no intention of returning once his loan deal expires.

Man United in talks over Sancho return

Sports Brief also reported on Manchester United initiating talks with Sancho to convince him to return.

The winger fell out with manager, Erik ten Hag, in September 2023 before he was shipped out on loan.
