Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, has thrown his weight behind one club to win this year's UEFA Champions League.

His team suffered a heartbreaking exit from Europe's premier club competition on Tuesday night, May 7, losing 2-0 over both legs of the semi-final against Borussia Dortmund.

Despite boasting an attack featuring Kylian Mbappe and launching 30 shots on goal, PSG failed to find the net against the Bundesliga outfit, according to Opta Statistics.

The Parisians' inability to score marks them as the team with the highest number of shots without scoring in the Champions League for at least two decades.

Additionally, they struck the woodwork four times, a record for a Champions League knockout tie.

Enrique rues PSG's ill luck in Dortmund defeat

Reflecting on the disappointing outcome, the former Barcelona coach expressed difficulty accepting it, visibly dejected by the turn of events.

"When the result is that, yes, it’s difficult, of course," Enrique told TNT Sports, as cited by Metro.

While acknowledging the outcome of the tie, the Spanish tactician lamented his team's misfortune in front of the goal, stating that football can be harsh at times.

"A tight match, but to be honest, I think we have to win the match. We created 31 shots, four [times hitting the woodwork] - football is so unfair sometimes."

He now expresses his wish for Dortmund to defeat either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich and lift the Champions League trophy at Wembley on June 1.

"But congratulations to [Dortmund]. They are a great team, they did a great job, and I hope they can go to the final and win it."

Zidane backs Real Madrid to beat Bayern

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Zinedine Zidane offered his perspective on the eagerly awaited Champions League second-leg semi-final clash between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich on May 8.

Despite Thomas Tuchel's formidable record against Los Blancos, Zizou, who was seen at the Miami Grand Prix on May 5, maintains confidence in Real Madrid, his former team, to emerge victorious.
