Real Madrid have been crowned champions of La Liga for a record-extending 36th time after a comprehensive win against Cadiz coupled with Barcelona's stumble against Girona on Saturday evening.

Los Blancos left no room for doubt, securing their 27th win of the season with a resounding 3-0 triumph at the Santiago Bernabeu under the guidance of the venerable Carlo Ancelotti.

With the title within touching distance, Madrid awaited Barca's result against Girona. The Catalan side, however, squandered a 2-1 halftime lead to succumb to a 4-2 defeat, sealing Real Madrid's triumph.

Reflecting on their successful campaign, five pivotal victories stand out, including crucial wins over arch-rivals Barcelona, which significantly contributed to securing the Spanish top-flight crown.

Sports Brief, using data from Flashscore, examines the crucial wins that sealed the 36th league title with four games left.

1. Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid

In the first instalment of the most highly anticipated clash on the Spanish football calendar, Real Madrid emerged victorious, claiming both bragging rights and a crucial three points.

Despite a sluggish start that saw Ilkay Gundogan open the scoring for Barcelona in the first half, Real Madrid weathered the storm.

In a pivotal moment, Jude Bellingham marked his debut El Clasico with a stunning brace, shifting the momentum decisively in Madrid's favour.

2. Alaves 0-1 Real Madrid

Although facing Deportivo Alaves wasn't Madrid's most challenging match of the season, securing victory at the Mendizorrotza Stadium before the winter break was pivotal for the White Angels.

The game took a turn when Nacho Fernandes received a red card ten minutes into the second half, forcing Madrid to defend fiercely.

As the match seemed destined for a goalless draw, Lucas Vazquez emerged as the unlikely hero, scoring an unexpected goal in the 92nd minute to propel his team to the top of La Liga at the end of 2023, per Eurosport.

3. Real Madrid 3-2 Almeria

One match that truly challenged the resilience of Carlo Ancelotti and his team was against the underestimated Almeria, ranked at the bottom of the table.

With two goals conceded before halftime, courtesy of Largie Ramazani and Edgar Gonzalez, Madrid seemed headed for its second defeat of the season.

However, a revitalised squad led by Bellingham initiated a remarkable comeback. The Englishman found the net in the 57th minute, followed by Vinicius Junior's equaliser seven minutes after the hour mark.

In a thrilling finale, Dani Carvajal secured all three points with a dramatic winner in the 99th minute.

4. Real Madrid 3-2 Barcelona

Once more, Madrid found themselves battling for victory, this time against their arch-rivals, FC Barcelona.

As Los Blancos pursued their 36th La Liga title, defeating the Catalan giants almost guaranteed their dreams coming true.

In another thrilling El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu, filled with drama, Madrid emerged triumphant with a 3-2 victory.

Yet again, Jude Bellingham's late winner proved decisive, separating a draw from a win, according to Spanish publication AS.

5. Girona 0-3 Real Madrid

At the time, the Catalan club was on an unbeaten streak, with whispers of a Leicester City-like fairytale brewing around the Estadi Montilivi. However, a relentless Madrid side swiftly put an end to those talks.

With goals from Joselu, Aurelien Tchouameni, and the ever-dependable Bellingham, Ancelotti's squad secured a 3-0 victory away from home.

This result displaced Girona from the top of the league table, propelling Madrid into a position of dominance they never relinquished.

Ancelotti praises 'spectacular' Real Madrid

Sports Brief also reported that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti praised his "spectacular" team following their 3-0 victory over Cadiz on Saturday.

With just one defeat in 34 matches and conceding only 22 goals, Los Blancos boasts the division's best defence, underscoring their dominance in the league.
