Arsenal is bracing itself for a fierce battle to retain 16-year-old forward Chido Obi-Martin, one of its most promising young talents.

The teenager's impressive form, including a seven-goal haul against Norwich City's Under-18s, has reportedly caught the attention of top European clubs.

According to Football Association rules, he cannot sign a professional deal with the Gunners until November 17th, his 17th birthday.

However, this restriction does not apply in other European countries, where players can ink professional deals at 16. As per All Nigeria Soccer, the 'loophole' has sparked interest from clubs like Bayern Munich, who are keen to snap up the talented youngster.

Obi-Martin boasts appearances for both England and Denmark at youth levels, recently representing Denmark in the Under-17s European Championship qualifiers. Negotiations are said to be underway with the player's representatives, and the Gunners have expressed a strong desire to retain his services.

Premier League academy guidelines dictate that players accepting scholarship terms commit on July 1 of the academic year they turn 16. Meanwhile, those agreeing to professional deals can formalize them on their 17th birthday.

According to the Telegraph, a transfer window opens for academy moves every summer, contingent upon mutual terms between clubs.

Post-Brexit regulations have reshaped the landscape for young talents with EU passports in Premier League academies, making them attractive targets for clubs in Germany offering professional contracts and potential first-team opportunities earlier than in England. Such players could also yield profits if successful in European leagues and sold back to Premier League clubs.

Obi-Martin pledges allegiance to Denmark

Sports Brief reported that Obi-Martin pledged his allegiance to Denmark and dreams of playing for the national team.

He wants to achieve more success with the team than the outgoing golden generation.

The forward is regarded as one of the best young talents in European football.
