Bayern Munich’s options to replace Thomas Tuchel as their head coach for next season are getting fewer after the club was met with another rejection from a manager they have been in talks with.

Tuchel took over after Julian Nagelsmann was fired last March, having guided the club to their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title after a final-day collapse by Borussia Dortmund.

In the current campaign, Tuchel could not steer the club to a 12th straight title as Bayer Leverkusen won their first-ever title.

Friction led to the club confirming the former Chelsea boss would leave at the end of the season.

The club has been actively searching for his replacement but has had no luck so far. Regardless, they insisted they will not reconsider their decision on the 50-year-old.

Sports Brief looks at three managers who have said 'no' to the record German champions.

Managers who have rejected Bayern Munich

1. Xabi Alonso

Alonso was the most sought-after manager in Europe when it was clear his side would become Bundesliga champions bar any late circumstances. Bayern were frontrunners had it been he left the Bay Arena, but he decided to stay one more season.

"It’s the right place for me to be, to develop as a coach. The fans showed great support this year. They have all the reasons to believe and dream we can have a great season. The players gave me so many reasons to keep believing in the team. My job is not over here," he said via Bundesliga.com.

2. Julian Nagelsmann

The club reached out to former boss, Nagelsmann, to succeed his successor. He was due to lead the German national team to Euro 2024 on home soil, which would have spelt the end of this contract.

Per The Athletic, the 35-year-old described the decision to turn down his former club and continue with the national team as 'a decision of the heart'. He extended his contract until the end of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

3. Ralf Rangnick

One of Germany's most prominent managers, Rangnick, delivered bad news to Bayern this morning (April 2) that he has chosen to continue as the Austrian national team manager instead of taking their job.

"I would like to expressly emphasise that this is not a rejection of FC Bayern, but rather a decision for my team and our common goals," he said via BBC Sports.

Bayern fans petition against Rangnick

Sports Brief also reported on Bayern Munich fans rejecting Rangnick and starting an online petition when news emerged he was the frontrunner to replace Tuchel.

The manager probably read the room, as this could have influenced his decision to turn down the job and keep his current position with the Austrian national squad.
