Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, has reflected on his experience playing against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the UEFA Europa League years ago.

The Nigerian international was in goal when his club, Omonia Nicosia, faced the Red Devils in England two years ago in the Europa League group stage.

Manchester United players launched several attacks against the Nigerian goalkeeper, but he was able to make 12 saves as he produced a man-of-the-match performance at Old Trafford.

Uzoho missed out on leaving Old Trafford with a clean sheet as a late goal from Scott McTominay in the added time sealed a 1-0 win for the Premier League giants.

In an exclusive interview with Soccernet, the former Deportivo La Coruna star narrates his experience facing Manchester United, his childhood club.

"Yeah, it was quite an experience for me, being at Old Trafford, competing against top-level players; it was a thing of joy for me," he said.
"I was thrilled to be in that stadium. And to be able to participate as well."

Uzoho confirmed after the game that he was not disappointed with the result, but he would have preferred his team get something out of the match after his superb performance.

"I am not disappointed with the result because we had a great game, but we would have preferred to get at least a point," the Super Eagles goalkeeper said in an interview with BT Sports.

Uzoho frustrated with bench role

Sports Brief previously reported on Uzoho being frustrated by his new role in the Nigerian national team.

The shot-stopper was reduced to the bench in the AFCON opener against Equatorial Guinea.

Uzoho reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the event that played out, stressing he wasn’t informed he was not going to be in goal for the AFCON clash.
