According to the Daily Post, Lookman, who has bagged 11 goals this season for Atalanta, claims they will try to win their remaining matches of the season to secure the UCL spot ahead of Roma.

“This victory (against Empoli) is very important because we have to reach the Champions League. We also have commitments in the Italian Cup and the Europa League, winning today was important.
“Roma are a strong team but so are we. We know that every match is difficult, but we are ready to try to win them all.”

Five teams will qualify for the Champions League from Italy next season and Atalanta currently occupies the sixth spot with 57 points from 33 games, while Roma occupies the fifth spot with 59 points but has played a game more.

Lookman on target against Empoli

Meanwhile, Lookman was on target as Atalanta defeated Empoli 2-0 in Sunday’s Serie A game to keep their dreams of reaching next season’s UEFA Champions League alive, Complete Sports reports.

Mario Pasalic had opened the scoring for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in the 42nd minute before the Super Eagles winger wrapped up the win when he cooly slotted in the 51st minute.

Lookman’s goal against Empoli takes his total tally in Serie A to eight goals and moves Atalanta to sixth on the table with four games left in the season.

Lookman joins elite Serie A group

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Lookman matched a notable Serie A record with two assists for Atalanta in their 2-1 victory over Monza at the Brianteo Stadium on Sunday, April 21.

Lookman's brace made him the fifth player to score over 20 goals and deliver more than 10 assists since the start of last season in Serie A, joining Olivier Giroud, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Paulo Dybala, and Rafael Leão.
