The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appears to be nearing the end of its search for a coach for the Super Eagles, with reports suggesting that a decision has been made regarding the appointment of a new manager for the team.
Since the departure of Jose Peseiro, who left his role with the Nigerian team after his contract expired in February, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finalists have been without a manager.
Several reports have linked several managers, both foreign and indigenous, to the vacant role.
However, amid the numerous managers linked to the position, a report from media outlet, OwnGoalNigeria, has stated that the members of the NFF technical committee have reached an agreement to appoint an indigenous manager for the Super Eagles.

The report emphasises that while the technical committee has settled on the appointment of Emmanuel Amunike, former Nigeria winger, Amokachi, could also join the coaching team.
It highlights that the 51-year-old was a recent addition to the coaching setup being assembled by the NFF.
Amokachi is expected to work alongside Finidi George, who was also in contention for the head coach role, as an assistant to Amunike.
The report concludes by suggesting that an announcement from the NFF regarding the coaching situation is imminent.

FootballTanzanian journalist warns against Amunike
Sports Brief in another report stated that Tanzanian football expert, Ernest Junior, cautioned the NFF against appointing Amunike as the coach of the Super Eagles.
The journalist pointed to Amunike's disappointing tenure with the East African nation as a significant concern.
Despite being able to secure qualification to the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, the former Barcelona winger could only muster two victories in his nine games in charge. Ernest also pointed out coach Amunike’s failure during his stint with the Egyptian club El Makasa.
