The soon-to-be-appointed coach by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the Super Eagles, faces the formidable challenge of securing qualification for both the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and it is only expected that the new coach will likely have preferences for new additions to the squad.

Considering these factors, Sports Brief highlights a list of players who could receive their first national team call-up once the new manager for the Super Eagles is announced.

Players who could debut under Nigeria’s next coach

Elijah Adebayo

The Luton Town forward could finally be presented with the opportunity to fulfil his ambition of playing for the Super Eagles.

The combative forward has, on numerous occasions, admitted to the fact that he would relish the opportunity to don the green and white jersey of the Nigerian team, and this dream could be a reality depending on the next coach of the Super Eagles.

So far this season, the Luton forward has been involved in nine goals, according to data courtesy of Fotmob.

Ibrahim Olawoyin

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder is frequently mentioned in discussions about players deserving a call-up to the national team.

The Rizespor star has been directly involved in eight goals this season as his team pushes for a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Olawoyin's versatility and his knack for effortlessly dribbling past defenders are seen as key qualities that could enhance the current prowess and talent pool of the Super Eagles.

Akor Adams

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the season's standout performers in the French league. The Montpellier forward has contributed to 11 goals in 29 appearances this season.

The former Nigeria U20 international also possesses incredible pace and intense competitiveness that could greatly benefit the Super Eagles.

In addition to Adams’ undoubtedly relishing a call-up to the national team, he would also provide fierce competition to the current crop of attackers that the Super Eagles boast.

Arthur Okonkwo

The 22-year-old goalkeeper may be on the brink of earning his first call-up to the Super Eagles with the appointment of a new manager.

The Arsenal loanee has been in admirable form this season with Wrexham. He has kept 14 clean sheets in his 35 appearances and has played a key role in securing promotion to the English Championship.

His performances have not gone unnoticed by the Nigerian football hierarchy, and he could be handed his maiden call-up during the June international window.

NFF discloses contract details of next Nigeria coach

Sports Brief in another report stated that the NFF have disclosed the contract details for the next Super Eagles coach.

The football federation are prepared to offer the next manager a two-year contract, along with a salary reported to be around $50,000.
