Mohamed Salah is paying the price for Liverpool’s abysmal form in recent weeks after the Anfield club saw their chances of winning the quadruple evaporate in the space of three weeks.
The 31-year-old Egyptian has come under fire from the Reds' supporters after Jurgen Klopp’s men were knocked out of the FA Cup, Europa League, and potentially the Premier League title race.
According to Talk Sport, Salah has hit a purple patch this season, struggling to find his best form for Liverpool since returning from an ankle injury he picked up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations while representing Egypt.
The forward’s form has been blamed for Liverpool’s embarrassing capitulation at the end of the season as the Reds are almost certain to finish the campaign with only the League Cup trophy won in February.

Lineker refuses to criticise Salah
Meanwhile, former England forward and TV pundit, Gary Lineker, has sympathised with Salah after his return from injury, stating that he’s omitting the Egyptian from any real criticism, TBR Football reports.
“I suspect there’s nothing wrong in the mind of Mo Salah, he’s just having one of those little spells that all strikers have. He’s been prolific, he’s been prolific again this season, he’s just having a bad patch at the wrong time.

The Egyptian has huffed and puffed for the Reds this season as they chase a 20th Premier League title in what will be manager Jurgen Klopp's final season with the Merseyside club.
The former Chelsea winger has already netted 23 goals in the ongoing season, making him Liverpool's leading scorer.
