The report highlights that the 52-year-old has gotten the nudge from high-ranking officials in the sports ministry to be named coach of the Nigerian team.
Recall that the Ministry of Sports had initially informed the NFF that they wouldn't offer any form of remuneration support to the federation in the event they opted for a foreign manager, who would undoubtedly command higher remuneration.

Furthermore, the update stressed that the top officials in the sports ministry further tipped the NFF to appoint Finidi, citing issues related to his familiarity with the team and the limited time available ahead of Nigeria’s next fixture.
