Wrexham Executive Director, Humphrey Ker, has affirmed the club's desire to secure the services of Arthur Okonkwo this summer.

The English League One outfit is keen to make Okonkwo's loan move from Premier League side Arsenal permanent.

At the age of 22, he has spent the 2023/24 season with the Hollywood-owned side, greatly showing promise under coach Phil Parkinson.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Ker spoke of the club's interest in retaining the Ango-Nigerian.

"I had to go and man-mark Arthur because we knew there would be lots of people from other football clubs there. As we are desperate to retain him in the summer, we have to make sure he does not have too much polite chit-chat with people, without me appearing over his shoulder, he said, as quoted by Wrexham Insider.

He stressed that regular first-team action should be the youngster's priority at this stage in his career while praising the club for trusting him.

Despite their solid interest, the club is expected to face competition to sign Okonkwo. However, Ker believes the Red Dragons' rapid rise in recent seasons makes them an attractive option.

Reports suggest Premier League and Championship sides are monitoring the shot-stopper's situation. He has been with the Lonson-based side since under-9 level and has only got 10 call-ups to the first team.

As reported by Now Arsenal, Okonkwo has also set his sights on the Golden Glove Award.

Wrexham promoted into third tier of English football

Sports Brief reported that Wrexham, a side owned by Hollywood stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, secured their second successive promotion with a 6-0 victory over Forest Green.

It meant the Welsh club will play in League One next season after winning the fifth-tier National League in April 2023.

Since surprisingly buying the club in 2021, McElhenney and Reynolds's investment has helped lift the team back into the EFL while bringing global recognition.
