Sadio Mane suspended from Senegal's Afcon opening clash against Tanzania

- Senegal have been pooled in Group C alongside Kenya, Algeria and Tanzania in the 2019 Afcon

- The west African nation will open their campaign against Tanzania

- They will however miss the services of Sadio Mane who has been suspended from his country's opener

Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane has been handed an African Cup of Nations blow after being suspended from Senegal's opening match.

This comes after the star forward racking up two yellow cards during Senegal's qualifiers against Equatorial Guinea in 2018 and in his side's 2-0 win over Madagascar.

Mane is now expected to miss Senegal's opening clash against Tanzania slated for Sunday, June 23.

He, however, should be available for selection in subsequent group stage matches against Algeria and Kenya's Harambee Stars.

The suspension will also come as a massive blow to the Lions of Teranga given that Mane features as the team's spearhead of attack.

The 27-year-old netted 22 goals in the English top flight last season to emerge the league's joint-Premier League top scorer alongside Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Meanwhile, the continental showpiece is set to officially kick off on Friday, June 21, with host nation, Egypt, taking on Zimbabwe.
