Morocco defender, Achraf Hakimi, has expressed delight after starring in Paris Saint-Germain's UEFA Champions League victory over Barcelona in Spain.

Having missed the first leg of the tie in Paris, where the French champions suffered a 3-2 defeat, he returned to the starting line-up for the clash on April 16.

PSG went on to overturn a disappointing result at home by beating Barcelona 4-1 to advance to the semi-final of the competition for the first time since 2020.

Hakimi's presence was felt when he served an assist for the goal that gave the visitors the lead for the first time in the game. The Moroccan provided Vitinha with a perfect pass for PSG's second score of the match.

"Semi-finalist. Allez Paris," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) along with photos from the game.

The host got off to a great start when Raphinha opened the scoring after 12 minutes but 18 minutes later, Barcelona were reduced to 10 men after Ronald Araujo was shown a red card.

Just before half-time, former La Blaugrana player, Ousmane Dembele, made the numerical advantage count after scoring the equaliser for the visitors.

Kylian Mbappe then came alive in the second half, scoring twice to ensure the game was beyond Barcelona.

PSG will now face Borussia Dortmund, who beat Atletico Madrid in the other quarter-final, in the semi-final of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League, as reported by PSG's official website.

Fans hail Kylian Mbappe after PSG win

The French star, who was said to have been 'angry' and 'seeking revenge', netted twice in the second half as PSG beat La Blaugrana 6-4 on aggregate over two legs of the quarter-final.

Mbappe scored his first goal of the evening from the spot to put the Ligue 1 leaders ahead before rattling home from close range to seal victory and help PSG qualify for the last four.
