  • Mamelodi Sundowns are on a hot unbeaten streak in the DSTV Premiership
  • The Brazilians have also qualified for the CAF Champions League semi-final
  • Despite this, coach Rulani Mokwena is still not satisfied with performances

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Rulani Mokwena, has shared his thoughts on the team's recent performances, despite holding an undefeated streak in the DStv Premiership.

He has admitted to not being entirely content with their gameplay, stressing the need for more time on the field to enhance cohesion and understanding among the players.

In recent matches, the manager has been cautious with his squad selections, aiming for consistency rather than frequent changes.

Despite clinching the African Football League earlier in the season, the Brazilians are still in contention for multiple titles, including the Nedbank Cup and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) trophy.

Mokwena highlighted the importance of playing together to improve performance and achieve better results.

“I want us to struggle together. I want us to be good teammates and help each other in difficult moments. One of the things that I really think we need at this moment in time is to be on the pitch together for most of the time, and that will help us to improve our performances," he said, as quoted by iDiski Times.

Sundowns are set to face Moroka Swallows in the league at the Dobsonville Stadium this evening. Currently holding a commanding 13-point lead over Stellenbosch United in the league standings, they are poised to defend their title and potentially set new records.

Their focus will then shift to the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi, where they face a fierce Espérance Sportive de Tunis, on Saturday, April 20, as reported by CAF.

Mokwena discusses Sundowns' scoring predicament

Sports Brief reported that Mokwena shed light on the team's recent difficulty scoring goals compared to other clubs, such as Orlando Pirates.

Despite expressing his desire for the team to replicate high-scoring feats, he highlighted the challenge of facing defensive-minded opponents who employ low-block strategies.

Although they dominate possession throughout many games, Masandwana have struggled to penetrate stubborn defences.
