Philippe Coutinho: Liverpool set to sign Barcelona star on 2-year loan deal

Philippe Coutinho could make a sensational return to Liverpool as the Anfield giants are set to beat Man United in the race to sign their former star on loan, reports claims.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to the Premier after failing to hit top form with Barcelona in the past two seasons.

The Brazilian international joined the Spanish giants in a shock £145million deal but is set to be sold to free up cash for £200m pursuit of former star Neymar.

Frenchman Antoine Griezmann has already completed a £108million switch to the Camp Nou which has reduced Coutinho's first-team chances ahead of next season.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was interested in making the former Inter Milan star his prime target, but it is understood Coutinho wants a return to the Merseyside.

And according to Italian news media outfit Calciomercato, Coutinho has now given his approval to a sensational offer from Liverpool to take him on a two-year loan with the option to buy at £88m.

His agent Kia Joorabchian has already insisted that his client will not be playing for any other Premier League side except Liverpool.

However, Joorabchian added that he has been informed that Barcelona do not plan to sell Coutinho regardless of any summer signing the club will make.
