FootballAndre Ayew: Samuel Inkoom Warns Against Kicking Black Stars Captain Out of Ghana Squad
- Samuel Inkoom has warned against calls for Andre Ayew to be removed from the Black Stars
- The Black Stars captain has come under pressure following the team's recent struggles
- The Black Stars have failed to go beyond the first round of the last three major competitions
Former Ghana defender, Samuel Inkoom insists veteran players like Andre Ayew should be kept in the Black Stars team to guide the young ones.
There has been increasing pressure for Ayew to be dropped from the Ghana squad following a series of underwhelming performances for the national team.
Ayew has been part of the Black Stars since 2008 and became one of only three players to appear at eight Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
However, under his leadership, the team has suffered back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations group stage eliminations while he also missed a penalty as Ghana were eliminated by Uruguay at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Despite his recent struggles, Inkoom, who won the FIFA U20 World Cup with Ayew believes his presence is important for the Black Stars.
"I believe if you have a team, you have to have the experienced ones and the young ones because the young one cannot just come like that. You are supposed to have experienced one inside the team that can motivate them and can also encourage them," he told GH One TV.
"I don't think at the moment we have to kick Andre Ayew or maybe the senior players out of the team. They have to be in the team, give the young ones confidence, and say a lot of encouraging stuff because I think that is how a team is supposed to be," he added.
Ayew was part of Ghana's squad for the international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in March.
