FootballHarry Kane Betrays Bayern Munich? English Striker Backs Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka Over Penalty Claim
- Harry Kane has voiced his support for Bukayo Saka's penalty appeal
- Both Kane and Saka were on target as Arsenal and Bayern played out a 2-2 draw
- But Saka's late penalty call was controversially waived off by the referee
Harry Kane seemed to have sided with Bukayo Saka over a contentious penalty claim in the dying moments of Bayern Munich's quarterfinal first-leg clash against Arsenal at the Emirates.
In his first return to North London since departing Tottenham Hotspur last summer, the England captain scored from the penalty spot as Bayern secured a 2-2 draw in the opening leg.
Kane's strike gave the visitors the lead after Serge Gnabry's header levelled the score for the Bavarians after Bukayo Saka had put the Gunners ahead in the 12th minute.
However, substitute Leandro Trossard got Mikel Arteta's charges back on level terms with just 14 minutes remaining. Both teams could have added to their tally amid penalty appeals.

Bayern's penalty appeal
Bayern felt aggrieved when referee Glenn Nyberg opted not to award a penalty for a handball incident involving goalkeeper David Raya and defender Gabriel Magalhaes, as noted by the Independent.
Raya's pass to Magalhaes inside the box was unintentionally handled, but the referee chose not to penalise the infringement.
Arsenal's penalty shout
Later, Arsenal found themselves on the wrong end of a potential penalty decision when Saka appeared to be tripped by Manuel Neuer in the dying moments of the game.
Though the contact seemed minimal, Saka was adamant it should have been a penalty, a sentiment Kane seemed to share when questioned about the incident.
What Kane said about Saka's penalty appeal
Saka's frustration boiled over as he confronted Nyberg. Meanwhile, Kane acknowledges his England teammate's legitimate case for a penalty after being clipped by Neuer.

Saka pursues referee after penalty call denied
Sports Brief also reported that Bukayo Saka pursued referee Glenn Nyberg off the field following Arsenal's draw with Bayern Munich, demanding a last-minute penalty that was denied.
Despite efforts from Arsenal's coaching staff to restrain him, Saka, rising from the treatment table, expressed his discontent towards Nyberg, sparking a tense moment on the pitch.
Striving for clarity on the penalty decision, he was met with silence, leaving the score tied at 2-2 for the night and Arsenal with a daunting task awaiting them in Germany.
