A section of Arsenal fans has thanked Manchester United for holding Liverpool at Old Trafford in an epic Premier League clash played on Sunday, April 7.

Jurgen Klopp's charges went into the match as the clear favourites to win owing to United's recent poor run.

However, they were forced to a 2-2 draw disappointing draw, with Mohamed Salah scoring from the penalty spot deep in the second half to salvage a point for the visitors.

Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo were on target for United, with Luis Diaz also getting his name on the scoresheet.

The result plunged the title race wide open, with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City all eyeing glory.

However, the Gunners will now be heading into the new week sitting at the top of the Premier League table with 71 points.

The north Londoners have United to thank for this given that a win for Liverpool at Old Trafford would have seen them drop to second.

While they are on the summit solely because of a superior goal difference, the result at the Theatre of Dreams gives them an edge in the title race.

Salah was on target during the encounter, finding the back of the net from the spot.
