Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy paid homage to Stuttgart legend Mario Gomez after scoring the winner in the game against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

The Stuttgart star netted his 24th goal of the campaign to equal the former Germany international's record at Stuttgart.

Gomez scored 24 goals in the 2008/09 as a player of Stuttgart, earning him a move to Bayern Munich at the end of that season.

In photos shared on social media, the French-born Guinean hit the 'Torero' while celebrating his winner against Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park.

"It is a goal for the record book. Serhou Guirassy scores his 24th goal of the season and thus equalizes the previous VfB record of Mario #Gomez from the 2008/2009 season. In addition, he scored the ninth goal to make it 1-0 this season – and is now the sole record holder in this category at Stuttgart vs Dortmund," wrote the Stuttgart on X, formerly Twitter.

Guirassy's 24 goals in 22 Bundesliga games has seen him lead Stuttgart's quest for a UEFA Champions League place finish, as they open a seven-point gap with fourth place RB Leipzig.

"Huge win in Dortmund. Big SIGNAL in the final sprint. Congrats to the team and thanks to the fans for the atmosphere," an excited Guirassy wrote on X after the game.

The 28-year-old joined Stuttgart last summer on a permanent deal from French outfit Stade Rennais, per Transfermarkt.

Manchester United interested in Serhou Guirassy

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that English giants Manchester United are interested in Guinea forward Serhou Guirassy following his outstanding season with German club Stuttgart.

Guirassy is seen as a solution to United's goal-scoring problems in the ongoing campaign.

Despite the array of attacking talents acquired by Erik ten Hag's team in recent seasons, the club has struggled to score goals, especially in the Premier League.

Sports Brief also reported Guinean forward, Serhou Guirassy was voted the Player of the Month for September in the Bundesliga.

The VfB Stuttgart forward beat competition from Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, Nigeria's Victor Boniface and his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Alejandro Grimaldo, as well as Chris Fuhrich to win the award.

Guirassy is enjoying a blistering start to life in the Bundesliga, having scored 13 goals in seven matches since joining the club from Stade Rennais in the summer transfer window.
