They beat the same opponent 5-3 on aggregate in the round of 16 thanks to Messi's heroics and will now face Mexican giants Monterrey in the quarter-final.

Sports Brief looks at the competition's top five most valuable players via Transfermarkt.

Concacaf Champions Cup MVPs

1. Lionel Messi

The Miami captain leads the pack with a market value of €30 million. Undoubtedly, he is the biggest player in the world and has transformed the MLS since his arrival. His value has declined over the years, with his highest ever being €180mil.

2. Cucho Hernandez

Columbus Crew forward Cucho Hernandez ranks behind the Argentina captain. The Colombian is worth €13mil, the highest value he has attained in his career. The 24-year-old has a goal in two games in the tournament this year.

3. Sergio Canales

The veteran Spanish attacker has a market value of €11mil, while the highest he attained in his career was €25mil. He will be Messi's opponent tonight with Monterrey. The pair have played against each other on multiple occasions in La Liga. Per Football Espana, he joined the Mexicans last year and admitted that he had no regrets about leaving his home country.

4. Juan Brunetta, Erick Sanchez, Julian Quinones

Three players share the fourth spot with market values of €10mil each, including Messi's compatriot Juan Brunetta, who plays for Tigres UANL. Pachuca's Erick Sanchez and Club America's Julian Quinones.

Lionel Messi's injury update

Sports Brief reported on Inter Miami boss Tata Martino providing fitness update on Messi ahead of Monterrey clash after the captain missed the last four games due to injury.

The 2022 World Cup winner has yet to feature for the Herons since helping the team beat Nashville SC in the round of 16 of the Champions Cup but is in contention for tomorrow's game.
