FootballJurrien Timber: Mikel Arteta Discloses When Defender Will Make Return From Injury
- Jurrien Timber was sidelined with a devastating injury this season
- Mikel Arteta has since delivered an injury update on the 22-year-old
- The Dutch defender played just one EPL game since he joined Arsenal
Arsenal head coach, Mikel Arteta, has hinted that defender, Jurrien Timber, may make a return to the Arsenal squad after a long-term knee injury suffered at the start of the Premier League campaign.
The Gunners coach seemed to confirm the Dutch star may be fielded before the season comes to an end.
Timber joined Arsenal in the summer of 2023, with the defender swapping Ajax for the Premier League giants.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal paid an initial fee of £34 million to sign the Netherlands international on a five-year deal.

The 22-year-old defender has consequently played only one match in the 2023/2024 Premier League.
Arteta provides injury update on Timber
However, Arteta has now given a positive injury update on the Dutchman, with the Arsenal boss confirming the defender was back in training and 'doing very well'.
"He’s not far off, but the thing is that last step: he hasn’t played any minutes, so does he need a game with the under-21s, does he need two games? We are going to have to see, especially because he’s training with us and we need to see how long that will take him. That last part is tricky and sometimes takes a while. Hopefully, as soon as possible," he said via The Mirror.
"I think he has a good chance [of playing for the first team this season]. I don’t know the percentage, but I think he has a good chance and he’s going to push it as far as he possibly can," added Arteta.
