- A reason why the ex-Ivory Coast coach could fail to land the Super Eagles job has emerged
The Super Eagles of Nigeria coaching situation remains a hot topic of discussion across the country's footballing communities.
Following reports that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is keen on the appointment of a foreign manager to lead the Super Eagles following the departure of former coach, Jose Peseiro, a flurry of surprising names have been linked with taking over the vacant managerial role.
The latest to be linked with the Nigeria coaching situation is France Women's national team coach, Herve Renard.
These swirling reports linking him with the Super Eagles vacancy come only days after Goal reported the 55-year-old was looking to step down from his role as coach after the summer Olympics.

However, amid the buzz the talks of the appointment of the former Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have generated, a report of why coach Renard cannot be Nigeria's next coach has emerged.
Why Renard cannot coach the Super Eagles
According to a report from OwnGoalNigeria, the Paris Olympics present a stumbling block between the former Zambia coach and the Super Eagles' job.
The 55-year-old plans to step down from his role at the end of the Olympics — a timeline that seems too late for the NFF, especially given Nigeria's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series commencing in June.
The Football Federation are not willing to take another gamble on interim coach, Finidi George, and are keen to hire a permanent manager for the Super Eagles promptly.
With coach Renard practically ruled out due to these circumstances, the NFF will now shift its attention to available coaches who also meet their requirements and timeline.
Report: Former assistant to Pep Guardiola applies for vacant Super Eagles coaching role
FootballReports hint at the possibility that former assistant to Pep Guardiola, Domenec Torrent, could be handed the reins as manager of the team.
Guardiola’s assistant favourite for Super Eagles role
In a previous report, Sports Brief stated that Guardiola’s longest-serving ally, Torrent, is favourite to be named Nigeria’s next manager.
The 61-year-old is reported to have been chosen by the football federation ahead of Antonio Conceicao and every other candidate vying for the role.
