FootballChelsea Were Fortunate to Get Penalty for Mudryk Incident vs Burnley, Ex Ref Claims
- Chelsea were lucky to get a penalty in the game against Burnley on March 30
- Referee, Darren England, gave a controversial spot kick during the first half
- An ex-referee has slammed the decision to penalise Vincent Kompany's side
Chelsea have been told that they were fortunate to get a penalty against Burnley during their two-all draw in a Premier League clash on March 30.
Mauricio Pochettino's side welcomed a relegation-battling Clarets to Stamford Bridge after the international break, looking to climb into the top half of the table.
Vincent Kompany's side started the better of the two teams, but it was Chelsea who broke the deadlock first, albeit under controversial circumstances.
Mykhailo Mudryk was felled inside the area by Lorenz Assignon, with referee, Darren England, pointing to the spot. The offence, despite being seen as a subtle touch from the French defender, was rubberstamped by the VAR.

Why Burnley shouldn't have been penalised vs. Chelsea
Ex-Premier League referee, Dermot Gallagher, has takenissue with England's decision, struggling to understand how the referee arrived at that decision.
"I just cannot see how it's a penalty. I talk about referees and how tough it is, but I don't know what's made him think that's a penalty. It's not a penalty. 100 per cent," he said on Sky Sports.
To make matters worse, Assignon was shown a second yellow card and will now have to serve a one-match suspension. Kompany was equally riled up by the decision and was shown a straight red card for his protests.
"I am not sure why he gave the yellow card. It can't be for denying a goal-scoring opportunity because Mudryk does not have the ball. You give a penalty that is wrong. A yellow card that's wrong," said Gallagher.

FootballCole Palmer dispatched the resultant spot kick coolly by using the panenka technique. He scored another goal in the second half, but the Blues were pegged back twice by the resilient Clarets.
The result left Pochettino's side still in 11th place on the Premier League table, with 40 points, while Burnley are second from last, four points adrift of safety.
How Cole Palmer has helped Chelsea

The England international made a surprise switch from Manchester City and has risen up the ranks.
With 13 goals and eight assists. Chelsea's season could be much worse without the 21-year-old.
