South Africa coach, Hugo Broos, has sent a note of warning to the Super Eagles ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers slated for June.
Bafana Bafana have failed to qualify for football’s biggest international competition since hosting the tournament in 2010 and the Belgian coach is hoping to end that barren spell.
According to Soccernet, Broos claims South Africa’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and their recent friendly games against Andorra and Algeria show they are not afraid of any team.
“We played against a very strong team, but I do not think there was much difference between the quality of our game and the quality of the game in Algeria.

“That means we have progressed in the last few months. We already showed that in the AFCON, and we did it again against Algeria. So, I don’t think we have to be afraid anymore of playing against any team in Africa.”
Nigeria will host South Africa on June 3 when the FIFA World Cup qualifiers resume as both teams seek to return to football’s biggest competition.
Hugo Broos denies exit rumours
Meanwhile, Broos has denied rumours that he is set to dump South Africa after being strongly linked with the Tunisia vacant position and the technical director position at Club Brugge, Score Nigeria reports.
The Belgian, who has a contract with South Africa till June 2026, insists he will be around to lead the Bafana Bafana to Uyo, Nigeria for the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier in June against the Super Eagles.
