Since 2008, the Nigerian women's national team have failed to qualify for the Games, but they hope to return this year.

They face the reigning African champions in the final leg of the qualifiers, and Nnadozie is determined to earn the ticket.

She told CAF Online, as per Complete Sports:

"I read so many things about the Olympics. We didn’t manage to qualify in 2020, I felt bad at first, then I said to myself ‘Come on, you have time ahead of you’ and that’s it another great opportunity to qualify."
"I want to know what it feels like to participate in the Olympic Games."

The first leg of the encounter is scheduled for April 5 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, while the reverse fixture will be played at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, four days later.

Desiree Ellis brands fixture as 'do-or-die'

Meanwhile, the head coach of the South African female national team, Desiree Ellis, has branded the final phase of the Olympic qualifier against Nigeria as must-win.

Both countries failed to qualify for the last edition of the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. As Sports Brief has also reported, the national women's football coach said:

"It will be do-or-die. We know the game against Nigeria will not be easy, but we have shown that we can play the best."

Oshoala makes history on NWSL debut

Meanwhile, Sports Brief previously reported that Super Falcons of Nigeria star, Asisat Oshoala, etched her name in football history as the first official National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) goal-scorer of new club, Bay FC.

The 29-year-old, who completed a reported $150,000 transfer to the US-based club from Barcelona Feminino, sent fans of the club into a frenzy after opening the scoring in the 17th minute in her side's win away at Angel City.

The strike from the marquee forward would prove to be the winner on the night, as coach Albertin Montoya's side did enough to see out the remainder of the game and Oshoala continued her outstanding form in front of the goal.
