According to the Daily Post, the current interim head coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi, is among the coaches shortlisted for the top position by the NFF.

The 52-year-old manager was in charge of the national team for Nigeria’s friendly matches against Ghana and Mali, where he earned a 2-1 victory against the Black Stars but lost 2-0 against the Eagles.

Another manager also reportedly shortlisted for the job is former Nigeria Under-17 coach Emmanuel Amunike who is also a top contender for the vacant job and is highly favoured by many Nigerians.

Finidi is not under pressure

Meanwhile, Finidi has stated that he is not losing any sleep over getting the Super Eagles job permanently after leading the team on an interim basis in the last international window, Punch NG reports.

The current Enyimba coach disclosed he is not desperate for the job despite being among the leading candidates to succeed Peseiro as the national team coach.

Finidi further stated he would be fine with whatever decision the NFF takes regarding the head coach position as a new head coach is set to be announced in the next few weeks.

Fans call for Finidi’s sack

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigerian fans have made a U-turn concerning Finidi becoming the permanent manager of the Super Eagles after the friendly defeat against Mali.

the Super Eagles were awful against the Eagles of Mali inside the Stade de Marrakech, losing 2-0 against their West African neighbours.

After the game, Nigerians seemed united against Finidi, calling on the NFF to look for a new permanent coach for the national team.
