His final years at Arsenal were marked with inconsistencies, with fans turning the heat of him demanding for his exit.
The Frenchman however contends he has "confidence" and "courage" to take the Man United hot seat, and even suggested he has "ideas" on how to coach the current team.
"Manchester United is a dream job for any manager. At least, any manager with courage and confidence," he told beIN Sports.
The Red Devils have had a shaky start into the new season, recording just two victories in six league matches to sit eighth on the Premier League standings.
The Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side had to rely on penalties to down League One side Rochdale in the EFL Cup as they continued with their woeful form.
But Wenger believes the team has the right players and only lack tactical training to rediscover top form.
"The team have no pattern of play, no pattern of pressing. There is a team there, but it needs to be coached and developed," he noted.
And when asked if he would be interested in taking over the hot seat at Old Trafford, Wenger could not hide his intentions.
"Like I said, Manchester United is a dream job. For any coach. I have confidence, I have courage...and you're right, I have ideas," he submitted.
