The Argentinian player spent 17 seasons at the club and became undoubtedly the greatest player to wear the Catalan side's kit.
While he may have left in 2021 and subsequently joined Paris Saint-Germain, the decision was never his and wasn't easy to accept.
As noted by Football Espana, the World Cup winner again opened up on his departure from the club, describing how difficult it was.

“The change was difficult when I went to PSG because I was doing very well in Barcelona, and I planned to stay there. I was not prepared to leave, everything happened very quickly, I had to rebuild my life from one day to the next," he said.
"It was a change that we were not looking for, and that is why it was difficult at first,” the Ballon d'Or winner added.

Messi was ready to sign a new deal with the side, but Barca could not afford to keep him.
