The Norwegian is contracted to the English side until 2027 but previously refused to rule out leaving the team for Barca's rivals, Real Madrid.
Why Laporta is confident of signing Haaland
Haaland expressed interest in playing in Spain before, and with Kylian Mbappe potentially joining Madrid, Laporta can offer the Norwegian a chance to compete against the only other forward who can currently rival him.
The Barca president also shares a good relationship with Haaland's agent and could use that to sway the Man City star's mind.
Laporta's history of signing big names
While bringing Haaland to Camp Nou may sound farfetched, considering Barcelona's recent financial troubles, Laporta does have a history of signing big-name players.
During his first stint as President in 2003/04, Laporta promised the Blaugrana faithful the signing of David Beckham, but when Madrid beat him to it, he brought in Ronaldinho instead, Marca noted.
The Brazilian made 207 appearances for the Spanish side, scoring 94 goals and registering 70 assists.
The following year, he brought in Samuel Eto'o and signed Thierry Henry three years later. In his final year as President during that first stint, Laporta brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic in his final year as President during that first stint.
