In 2023, Forsberg ended an eight-year association with Leipzig and was announced as a New York Red Bulls player in 2024.

“We will part ways. Words I thought I would never utter after two children and 19 years together and that still feel unreal,' she wrote on an Instagram post that was deleted hours later. “
Her statement, which was written in Swedish, went on, “I have loved you more than anything and always supported you. But even love has its limits. The greatest love is my children and I want them to know their worth just as I know mine. Being taken for granted and neglected is not love.”
The couple has known each other since they were children and have been together for 19 according to NY Post.
The got married in 2016, and their union produced two children.
According to court documents seen by Expressen, Shanga is the one who filed for divorce.
It comes as a surprise that Forsberg’s wife has allegedly been left out of the player’s life after the MLS move, especially because she was one of his biggest supporters when the transfer was confirmed a few weeks ago.
“Mixed emotions, sad to leave Leipzig that has become our second home. Sad to leave friends that have become family. Excited for what’s to come. Happy to stay with family. New York. New York.” She wrote in an Instagram post on December 23 2023.
