The north Londoners were beaten 2-1 by the Portuguese former club with Marcus Rashford scoring both goals against his former manager.
Mourinho's men however quickly pushed their last Wednesday's defeat behind as they got their game against the Clarets started on a bright note.
Harry Kane fired his side in front with a stunning strike just five minutes into the game after connecting with a superb pass from Son Heung-min.
Four minutes later, Lucas Moura tapped in his side's second goal in the ninth minute following what looked like a goal-mouth scramble in the visitors'danger zone.
With two goals already in the bag, Mourinho's men did not slow down as they continued mounting pressure on their guests.
Again, their efforts paid off after Son Heung-min made a solo run from his club's half - making a run all the way to Burnley's 18-yard box before beautifully putting the ball in the net.
Kane completed his brace in the game nine minutes into the second half as he dribbled past two defenders before aiming a shot at Nick Pope, who eventually had no way of saving the ball.
And in the 74th minute, Moussa Sissoko got a chance to get on the scores sheet with a low but superb finish.
